So Many Reasons To Be Thankful

As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday here in the United States, we at Herrmann International have a lot to be grateful for.

In just over a month, we’ll be saying goodbye to our long-time headquarters location in Lake Lure, North Carolina, as we transition to a fully virtual operation. It’s a bittersweet moment as it is—nostalgia for the past mixed with excitement about all the new things we’re planning for the future.

But Mother Nature has added a new twist to this story.

You may have read about the wildfires that have ravaged thousands of acres of forest across parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia over the past several weeks. Our building sits perilously close to the Party Rock Fire in Chimney Rock State Park–Rumbling Bald, which has burned through more than 7,000 acres.

Last week, our team did what it always does, even in crisis—it came together, rolled up its sleeves and made things happen. Furniture, computers, servers, work materials and more have been loaded up and moved.

Employees (and even a few of their family members) have made trips back and forth, carting away full truckloads and trailers to ensure everything and everyone are safe and protected. Home offices have been set up and ready to go, without any downtime for our clients. And Ned Herrmann’s artwork, which adorned the walls of the offices, has been carefully packed and stored away.

I have never been more grateful or proud to be a part of this team. They’ve shown amazing resilience, patience, dedication and focus under incredibly challenging circumstances.

They’ve shown that they can literally move mountains.

All of us at Herrmann International are especially thankful to the 920 firefighters who are fighting this blaze. We hope you’ll join us in keeping them in your thoughts this holiday season.
